Flash Flood Warning Issued For Jefferson County
Heavy rain Wednesday morning has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warning for all of Jefferson County.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Jefferson County, with as much as two inches of rain already covering the metro area. The warning is in effect until 3:45 p.m. The warning was extended two hours after rain continued through the afternoon.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, MountainBrook, Trussville, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Leeds, Moody,Fairfield, Fultondale, Center Point, Pleasant Grove, Clay, Pinson, Tarrant and Midfield.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots," the NWS said in a statement. "Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely."
