Forest Park Restaurant Closes, Chef To Focus On Catering
A restaurant in Forest Park is set to close, as the eatery's chef aims to focus on the catering aspect of his business.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A restaurant in Birmingham's Forest Park neighborhood closed its doors over the weekend, as the owner and operator of Whistling Table on Clairmont Avenue has decided to focus his business on catering.
A Birmingham Business Journal report said chef Mac Russellwill focus on his other culinary project, Shindigs Catering.
Whistling Table opened last summer in the building that for years housed V Richards. Russell told the BBJ that Shindigs Catering will operate out of the Whistling Table space and a part-time commissary until he finds a commissary restaurant in the area.

He said he would like the new space to have a small sit-down dining area as well as event space. The new dining component would start as a pop-up restaurant.
Russell trained at the Culinard in Birmingham and Apicius in Florence, Italy, and has served at prominent local restaurants such as Hot and Hot Fish Club.
