Former Alabama State Star, NFL QB Dies In Car Accident
Tarvaris Jackson died in a single-vehicle accident near his hometown of Montgomery Sunday.

MONTGOMERY, AL — Former Alabama State University star and NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson died Sunday in a car accident near his hometown of Montgomery.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Jackson was killed when the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree then overturned, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
After being drafted in the second round of the 2006 draft, Jackson played 10 NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Seahawks from 2006 to 2015. He threw for 7,263 yards and 39 touchdowns with 35 interceptions, and he won a Super Bowl as Seattle's backup quarterback in 2013.

The 36-year-old had retired from the NFL and transitioned into coaching in 2018, joining Alabama State as a quality control coach and QB coach. He moved to Tennessee State University in 2019.
