Former Birmingham Police Chief, City Councilman Dies
William "Bill" Myers died Wednesday in his home in Homewood. He served as Birmingham's police chief and on the city council in the 1980s.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A former prominent Birmingham public servant has died, according to a report by the Birmingham Police Department. Former police chief and Birmingham City Council member William "Bill" Myers was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at his home in Mount Royal Towers in Homewood. He was 88 years old.
Myers served as Birmingham's Chief of Police from 1978 to 1981, and sat on the city council from 1989-1993, representing District 1.
