Former JeffCo District Attorney-Elect Sentenced To Jail Time
The man once elected to the position of Jefferson County District Attorney will serve six months in jail for perjury.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The man once elected to serve as Jefferson County Attorney General will begin 2020 serving a six month jail sentence, according to an Alabama Media Group report. Charles Todd Henderson, elected in 2016 to the DA position, was set to take office in January of 2017 when he was indicted on perjury charges.
The charges stem from a relationship he had with Yareima Carmen Valecillos Akl during her divorce to Charbel Akl. Henderson testified during the Akls' September divorce trial and reportedly lied in court about staying at Yareima Carmen Valecillos Akl 's apartment with her. Security footage showed Henderson had stayed at the apartment multiple times.
Henderson will begin his sentence Monday.
