Wenonah High, Mississippi State Star De’Runnya Wilson Found Dead
Former Mississippi State football and basketball player De'Runnya Wilson was found dead in a Birmingham home Tuesday.

BIRMINGHAM , AL — A Birmingham native and former college football and basketball star was found dead in a Birmingham home Tuesday. De’Runnya Wilson, who starred at Wenonah High School and at Mississippi State in both sports, was found dead inside a house on Northland Avenue in southwest Birmingham.
Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said a relative of Wilson's found him unresponsive and called police.
Williams did not say how Wilson died, but said his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Wilson was named Alabama’s Mr. Basketball in 2013 while at Wenonah High School, and went on to Mississippi State to play both basketball and football. When he left MSU after his junior season, Wilson ranked fifth in school history with 133 receptions, sixth in yardage with 1,949 yards, and second with 22 touchdowns.
