Four Homicides In Less Than 24 Hours In Birmingham
In a sad, deadly 24-hour span, Birmingham police reported four homicides in the city.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The last 24 hours in Birmingham have been deadly. Police reported four homicides Wednesday in the city, with several injuries from gunshots also reported.
At 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, one woman, believed to be in her 20s, and a man in his 40s arrived at Princeton Baptist Medical Center with gunshot wounds. The woman, later identified as 26-year-old Briana Young, died from her injuries.
Approximately 12 hours later, police responded to a report of shots fired in Roosevelt City, and found a man dead from gunshot wounds sitting in a crashed SUV. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)

A report by Alabama Media Group said that around 9:20 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Mitchell Street and found a black male unresponsive inside a vehicle that had struck a home. He was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner.
An hour later, police responded to a call of a person shot in the 1100 block of Meadow Lane. Officers found black male laying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. The Jefferson County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

There have now been 81 homicides in Birmingham in 2018.
