Girlfriend Claims Self Defense In Shooting
A woman is claiming self defense in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Clay.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man at a park in Clay Friday night.
Deputies were called to the scene at Cosby Lake Park just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. A woman claimed she was being assaulted by her boyfriend and she shot him in self-defense.

The boyfriend, 24-year-old Shaquille Tyra Crayton of Birmingham, was pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Once completed the findings will be presented to the Jefferson County County District Attorney’s Office.
