Halloween In Birmingham: 5 Haunted Houses In The Magic City
Ready to get yourself in the Halloween spirit? Visit these Birmingham haunted houses open this month.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - October is the time to get out the costumes, gather the kids together and roam the neighborhood in search of tricks or treats, but that doesn't mean that adults cannot have some fun as well. One of the great traditions around Halloween for the older crowd is to visit one of Birmingham's seasonal "haunted house" venues and events. Some have been around for decades, while others are new to the city.
Here are five venues hosting haunted houses and Halloween events from now until the end of the month:
Sloss Fright Furnace; 20 32nd St N, September 28 through October 31, weekdays sundown to 10:30 p.m.; weekends sundown to midnight: One of the great landmarks in Birmingham, Sloss Furnace has been featured on "Ghost Hunters" and has been rumored for decades to be haunted. If you’re feeling extra brave this October, visit the furnaces for a night of fear-filled fun. This year’s fright furnaces features five different attractions, including the classic furnace tour. Tickets: $20 to $35.

Atrox Factory; 8404 Parkway Dr, Leeds; September 29 through November 2; Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, 6:30 pm to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to midnight: With 50,000 square feet and more than a quarter mile of shocking surprises, the Atrox Factory is the largest indoor haunted attraction in the Southeast. If you’re looking for a major scare, this is the haunted house for you. This year’s terrors will include plenty of “industrial strength” horror including a run for your life, nightmare-worthy clowns, the return of Slain Manor and scariest of all, an altered state 4D experience where visitors will be strapped in and cannot exit. Tickets $20
Nightmare 3008; 1731 Decatur Hwy, Fultondale; September 22 through October 31; hours may vary: Nightmare 3008 is described as the place “where nightmares become reality.” If you’re on the hunt for some haunting this season, they’ll have multiple terrifying attractions, including escape rooms and the House of Psychos, which is making its grand entrance to the park this year. The Underground, a spine-chilling attraction will complete the experience. Tickets: $15 to $40.

Warehouse 31; 3150 Lee St, Pelham, September 29 through October 31; hours may vary: Warehouse 31 is one of Birmingham’s scariest October attractions based on the story of Billy Turner, brought his daughter, Anna Belle with her toy doll in hand, to an old lumber yard in Pelham. According to urban legend, Anna Belle suffered an unspeakable accident that resulted in the death of both Anna Belle and her father. For the years to follow, both Billy and Anna Belle have haunted the grounds of the lumber yard, where today’s Warehouse 31 is situated. Tickets $10-$50.
Insanitarium Haunted Attraction 5320 Miles Spring Rd, Pinson; September 28 through October 31; hours may vary: Insanitarium was named the “Top Fan-Voted Must-See Haunt." Experienced performers and musicians have put together a truly frightening experience based on the twisted minds of "Dr. Ausnemen and his rival. Dr. Folter." Tickets $15.
