BIRMINGHAM, AL — Heavy rain and flooding conditions will continue throughout the morning Thursday, but for trick-or-treaters, some good news is that the rain is expected to end between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The bad news is that a freeze warning is in effect beginning just after midnight. Expect some areas in most Birmingham area neighborhoods to have standing water and flooding conditions, which pose a hazard to children out trick-or-treating.

"Temperatures will fall rapidly behind the cold front, and by midday most communities across north and central Alabama will be in the 40s with a brisk northwest wind," Spann said. "Rain will end from northwest to southeast during the afternoon, and all of the rain will be gone by evening, so trick-or-treaters will have dry conditions for their fun. But it will be cold, with temperatures in the 37- to 42-degree range. Bundle up."
