Heavy Storms Expected For Metro Area

The National Weather Service stated heavy storms are coming toward the Birmingham area Thursday, with some possibly severe.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Thursday's weather may include a heavy dose of rain and lightning, and in some parts of the state, those storms could be severe. The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a weather advisory for Blount, Etowah and St. Clair counties, and warned that rain in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon could be accompanied by high winds and lightning.

According to the NWS, a heavy line of showers and storms are moving eastward towards Jefferson and Blount counties, and "frequent lightning and winds ranging between 20-30 mph are possible."
