Holiday Parade In Birmingham Has New Route

The December 2 parade will include the annual tree lighting ceremony and a Santa Claus appearance.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The annual Holiday Parade in downtown Birmingham takes place December 2, and the city has posted a new route. Mayor Randall Woodfin made the announcement this week.

Due to downtown construction, the parade will start at 4 p.m. at Fifth Avenue South and 14th Street South and end on Short 20th Street North in front of City Hall. The tree lighting ceremony will follow in front of City Hall at 5:30 p.m. where Woodfin will join children and Santa in flipping the switch for the city’s Christmas tree.

High school marching bands from Birmingham City Schools will participate in the parade. Two choirs will sing during the tree lighting event, which will also feature food trucks and city partners.
