HOMEWOOD, AL — The Homewood Police Department has arrested a jail employee for allegedly stealing money from an inmate. Tiffany Purifoy, a 31-year-old Tarrant woman, is charged with theft of property.

An investigation was launched after a complain was made with the department on July 29, according to an Alabama Media Group report. A person who had been arrested on an outstanding warrant filed a complaint after being released that money was missing from their personal belongings that had been brought with them to the jail.

Purifoy, who joined the department as a corrections officer in July 2018, was fired Tuesday. The warrant for her arrest was issued Wednesday and she was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 11:05 a.m. Her bond is set at $2,500.
