Homicide Investigation Now Ruled A Natural Death: Birmingham PD
Birmingham police officers found a dead woman in a home May 30, and have ruled out homicide as the cause of death.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham Police Department investigation into a death back in May had previously been investigated as a homicide, but is now ruled a natural death. The incident occurred May 30 at approximately 6 a.m.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to 1401 4th Avenue West to investigate a report of a deceased female. Officers arrived and observed a female, later identified as 40-year-old Dorise Henderson, inside the residence unresponsive in the living room area. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived with the Jefferson County Coroner and pronounced Henderson deceased on the scene.
Initially the death was listed as an unclassified death investigation. Further investigation by the coroner and BPD investigators prompted the death classification to change to a homicide investigation. Upon review of findings from the Jefferson County Coroner’s office, Henderson's death has been changed from a homicide investigation and ruled as a natural death.
