Homicide Investigation Underway After 25-Year-Old Victim Dies

A 25-year-old man was shot to death in west Birmingham Sunday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating a homicide in west Birmingham Sunday after finding a 25-year-old man shot at 1600 Pearson Avenue Southwest. The incident occurred around 3 p.m.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said officers discovered 25-year-old Deshandra Lashode Bell inside the store suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported Bell to UAB Hospital for treatment. Investigators later learned Bell had succumbed to his injury during a surgical procedure and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Responding officers found that the victim was shot at another location and ran to the store for help before collapsing. There are no suspects in custody.
