BIRMINGHAM, AL — After a fiasco with the University of Alabama School of Law that gained national attention, Hugh Culverhouse has donated $250,000 to Birmingham's Planned Parenthood clinic.
Planned Parenthood Southeast said Thursday that Hugh Culverhouse donated the large sum to support the relocation of its Birmingham location. Planned Parenthood is building a 10,000-square foot health clinic, according to a WBRC report.
Culverhouse, who had a $21 million donation to the UA law school returned by the school, publicly denounced the Alabama anti-abortion bill that passed earlier this year, Culverhouse claimed the reason for the school returning the donation was because of his opposition to the strict abortion ban by the legislature.
