Ice Rink At Railroad Park Open For Final Day
Railroad Park's ice skating rink was supposed to close January 1, but remains open one more day.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - As the old saying goes, "All good things must come to an end." This rings true for Railroad Park's "Brrrrrrrmingham" ice skating rink, which is open Jan 2 for its final day this winter. The rink was scheduled to be open from Nov. 25 until Jan 1, but the popularity of the attraction prompted organizers to extend the attraction one more day.
The rink this year was larger than last year, and was able to accommodate more people. Executives with the park knew last year they had a winner on their hands judging by the reaction from people throughout the metro area.
"When a guy proposed to his girlfriend on the first day the rink was open last year, we knew we had something special," said Camille Spratling, Executive Director, Railroad Park Foundation."The community really made us a part of their traditions. People had their birthday parties here and their holiday parties. It was a treat to see everyone come together in a new way here at Railroad Park. Thanks to everyone's support, we're able to bring the rink back even bigger this year, with enhancements on and off the ice to create a more memorable experience."
