Inmate In JeffCo Jail Found Unresponsive In Cell, Dies
An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer was found unresponsive in his cell and died en route to the hospital.
BESSEMER, AL — An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer died after he was found unresponsive in his cell Wednesday. Vijay Ramure Lipscomb, 33, died en route to the hospital, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Lipscomb was seen on security video inhaling an unknown substance before he was found unresponsive in his cell.
The cause of death is unknown.
