Jefferson County Adds 360 New COVID-19 Cases As Alabama Tops 60K

Alabama has confirmed more than 60,000 COVID-19 cases, and nearly 19,000 in the last two weeks.

MONTGOMERY, AL — COVID-19 cases in Alabama continue to rise, especially in the state's most populated county. Jefferson County added 360 new cases to its state-leading total Thursday, as Alabama has reported nearly 19,000 new cases of the virus in the last two weeks.

Total, the Alabama Department of Public Health has reported 60,158 cases of COVID-19, after adding 1,933 new cases in the last 24 hours. The stage has also confirmed 1,200 deaths from the virus.

The ADPH reports that 550,179 COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state since March, and of the 60,158 positive tests, 29,736 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus.

Here are the counties reporting the most new cases Thursday:

  • Jefferson County: 360 new cases; 7,809 total
  • Mobile County: 165 new cases; 5,514 total
  • Tuscaloosa County: 94 new cases; 2,931 total
  • Shelby County: 92 new cases; 1,972 total
  • Baldwin County: 80 new cases; 1,579 total
