Jefferson County Commission Declares State Of Emergency
The Jefferson County commission also passed a motion to close county courthouses and public facilities through April 6.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL—The Jefferson County Commission declared a state of emergency Monday morning following the continued spread of the coronavirus in the county. The vote to approve the declaration passed unanimously.
"The existing and increasing possibility of the occurrence of COVID-19 will be beyond the control of the services, personnel, the equipment and facilities of the county and will require combined forces of a mutual aid from the region or regions to alleviate the adverse effects to the health, safety and the economy of the county," part of the declaration reads.
The county commission also passed a motion to close county courthouses and public facilities through April 6. According to WBRC-TV, a travel ban was also passed, and employees who have already spent money for those upcoming trips will be reimbursed.

There are currently 17 cases in Jefferson County, according to Alabama Public Health.
