Jefferson County Deputy Shooting Sends Man To Hospital
The deputy was responding to a domestic violence call, the sheriff's office says in a release.

BIRMINGHAM, AL – An investigation is underway into a deputy-involved shooting in Birmingham. One man was sent to the hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
It happened around 12:30 on Saturday afternoon.
The sheriff's office says that the deputy was responding a report of a domestic assault on the 4800 block of Vernon Parkway near Grayson Avenue.

A 62-year-old man had allegedly assaulted his wife and her sister at the home.
The man walked out of the home armed with a handgun.

The deputy fired one shot, striking the man in he shoulder.
He has non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office. After he is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
