Update: Reward in JeffCo Animal Cruelty Case Reaches $6,000
Investigators are searching for the person who abandoned a litter of puppies in west Jefferson County, and the reward has reached $6,000.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Sheriff’s Animal Cruelty investigators are searching for the person who abandoned a litter of puppies at Little Cove Way and Alliance Road in western Jefferson County last week. According to a report, the sheriff’s office received information from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society about a social media post made by a person who witnessed the puppies being dropped off by the road. The post indicated that the suspect killed a couple of the puppies by running over them with a car as they drove away. Now, the reward for the capture of the suspect has reached $6,000, thanks to a donation of $5,000 from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Sheriff's deputies are still searching for information that might lead them to the capture of the suspect, who will likely face animal cruelty charges. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Birmingham Patch morning newsletter.)
