Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Arrested
A deputy working in the Bessemer Jail is accused of bringing contraband to inmates.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy has been arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband. Desmond Clopton, 30, was working in the county jail in Bessemer at the time of his arrest.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said an investigation found that Clopton, 30, had been bringing in contraband to inmates in the jail.
His bond is set at $3,000. The case remains under investigation.
