BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred on Gary Avenue near Bessemer Saturday. At about 3:30 Saturday afternoon deputies responded to a report of a shooting in front of a residence in the 800 block of Gary Avenue. They arrived to find an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.Information at the scene is that the victim and an adult female were sitting in a car in front of the house when a black male suspect walked up and fired shots into the vehicle. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The female was not injured.The investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as they become available.
