Jefferson County Shooting Results In Arrest

A suspect is in custody after a shooting in west Jefferson County early Sunday morning.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Two victims were injured and a suspect arrested after a shooting in Jefferson County just after midnight Sunday morning. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested 37-year-old Stephen Lee Mason at a home near the Jefferson County and Tuscaloosa County line.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said Tuscaloosa deputies arrived at the scene first after reports of gunfire in the area. A woman and a man were found injured, and mason was still on the scene. Both victims were hospitalized, with the man in critical condition and the woman with non life-threatening injuries.

Mason was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on two counts of attempted murder. He remains held on bonds totaling $120,000.
