June 5 Primary Election: What You Need To Know

Patch looks at where to vote, who is on the ballot and what you will need in order to cast your vote in Tuesday's elections.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Tuesday, June 5 is election day for several statewide and local primaries. The deadline to register to vote for the primaries has passed, but many voters may not know everything they need to know about tomorrow's election.

Voters may vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary, and if an election requires a runoff July 17, a voter may only vote in the runoff elections for the party in which he or she voted June 5. In essence, if a voter chose a Republican ballot June 5, he or she may not vote in a Democratic primary runoff July 17. However, voters are free to vote for candidates from any party in the general election November 6.
