BIRMINGHAM, AL — Citing pretrial publicity, a judge has issued a gag order in the trial involving the murder of 3-year-old Kamille McKinney. Patrick Stallworth and Derick Irisha Brown have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of the child.

Circuit Judge Clyde Jones issued the order Tuesday morning, according to an Alabama Media Group report. The order prevents the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and defense attorneys for Stallworth and Brown from making further statements about the case.

Stallworth has proclaimed his innocence via his attorney, Derrick Collins. Collins also said it's his understanding Brown has given police a statement against Stallworth and suspects the pair will be tried separately because of that.

Collins also is representing Stallworth on child pornography charges filed after Kamille's abduction.

Stallworth and Brown were taken into custody Oct. 15 after police were informed that the vehicle said to have been involved in the kidnapping was spotted at a Center Point apartment complex. Stallworth was released on bond while Brown remained in jail after authorities filed a motion to revoke her bond in a 2018 case in which Brown is accused of abducting her three children from DHR custody.

Police say they found the body of the young girl, missing since Oct. 12, in a garbage bin that had been parked in the Center Point area and then later moved to a landfill near Warrior.

The coroner's investigation showed Kamille was killed the same day she was kidnapped.
