BIRMINGHAM, AL — One of the two suspects in the kidnapping and murder of 3-year-old Kamille McKinney told police that she witnessed the other suspect in the case sexually assault the young girl, according to an Alabama Media Group report. The report said Derick Irisha Brown claimed she saw Patrick Stallworth forcing Kamille to perform sexual acts on him in their Center Point apartment.

Brown told police she did not realize Stallworth — her boyfriend — had taken Kamille from the Tom Brown Village housing community Oct. 12 until the couple had stopped at a gas station later in the day.

Birmingham police homicide Det. Jonathan Ross testified in court Friday, saying Brown told him she saw her boyfriend forcing Kamille to perform oral sex on him, according to the al.com report. Brown said she had been taking drugs that day and was not sure at the time what she had witnessed.

Ross said Friday that Brown told detectives that after stopping at a Jet Pep, the couple went back to their apartment, and she went to sleep shortly afterwards. She claimed she then woke up and walked into another room where she witnessed Stallworth sexually abusing the girl, the al.com report said. Brown then fell asleep again until the following day, she told police.

According to the report, Ross testified that Brown told detectives, "Her boyfriend put the baby in a trash bin with old furniture."

Ross testified that fingernail clippings from Kamille showed signs of Stallworth's DNA, and that Stallworth had a scratch on his chest when he was arrested.

Stallworth and Brown have differing accounts of what transpired Oct. 12, but both stories indicate that Kamille was with them and had been taken from the housing complex. Stallworth claims that Brown is responsible for the kidnapping and murder.

Stallworth was arrested shortly after Kamille went missing and was charged with possession of child pornography. None of the images on Stallworth's phone were of Kamille, police said.

Kamille's body was discovered Oct. 22 in a garbage bin that had been parked in the Center Point area and then later moved to a landfill near Warrior. Brown tipped police off to the location of Kamille's body, police said. Kamille died by asphyxiation, according to police reports.
