Kansas Woman Who Was On Her Way To Birmingham Is Still Missing

Kansas woman Marilane Carter, who left for Birmingham Aug. 1, is still missing, but police have not opened a criminal investigation yet.

OVERLAND PARK, KS — Kansas mother Marilane Carter, who left her home in Overland Park, Kansas on August 1 to visit family in Birmingham, is still missing more than two weeks later. Police have yet to open a criminal investigation into her disappearance, but new video footage shows Carter at a gas station in West Memphis, Arkansas August 2.

A video has surfaced on a Facebook page dedicated to locating Carter, showing her in Arkansas.

Carter's parents live in Birmingham, and her husband says she was headed to Birmingham to seek treatment for mental health issues. He said due to privacy rules within mental health facilities, he does not know if his wife has checked into any facilities in the area.

Officer John Lacy of the OPPD said Carter was driving a 2011 GMC Acadia, with a Kansas license plate number 194 LFY.

Police described Carter as a 5-foot-8, 130-pound white woman with long brown hair and green eyes. She is married and has three children.
