Kidnapping Case In Birmingham: Gov. Ivey Offering $5,000 Reward
A 3-year-old girl is still missing from the Tom Brown Village housing community in Birmingham, while police have two people in custody.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — The search is still on for a 3-year-old child who was kidnapped from the Tom Brown Village housing community in Birmingham Saturday night. Kamille McKinney was last seen at a birthday party in the housing community at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced Monday she is in discussions with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to finalize plans for a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Kamille’s disappearance.
Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin of the Birmingham PD said Sunday police had made contact with who they believe to be a person of interest. "This individual is currently being detained for questioning," Mauldin said. "Police personnel will be canvasing the area of Shadow Wood Circle in search of Kamille McKinney."

Chief Patrick Smith said an Amber Alert has been expanded to include surrounding states. While now two people of interest are in custody, the child is still missing, which increases the chances of her being further away — perhaps out of Alabama by now.
Kamille was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt with leopard print design and leopard print shorts with no shoes. According to witnesses, a woman in a dark SUV left the location with Kamille.

Mauldin said further investigation indicated that the kidnapping suspect was believed to be driving an older model (2001-2006) dark color Toyota Sequoia with beige trim. The vehicle — reported to be occupied by a black male and white female — was recovered from an apartment complex in Center Point Sunday night.
Agencies assisting Birmingham police include the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency and the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children.
