Law Enforcement Investigating Death of 47-year-old Jefferson County Man
A 47-year-old Jefferson County man was found dead in a fenced area near Oak Grove over last week.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 47-year-old man deputies found inside a fenced mining area near Oak Grove last week. At approximately 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, deputies were called to a mining property in the 8800 block of Oak Grove Mine Road where an adult male had been discovered dead inside a fenced power station. A family member discovered him after he failed to return home the night before.
Family members reported that they had last seen the victim the night before when he left home telling them he was going to look for scrap metal. There were wire cutters and pieces of copper wire near the victim's body, and evidence indicates that he was electrocuted while attempting to take copper wire from the power station. Conclusive cause of death is pending the Medical Examiners report.
