BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man has been charged with a felony in connection with a crash Easter weekend that killed a woman sitting on her front porch. Birmingham police charged Eddie King, 60, with manslaughter in the March 31 death of 62-year-old Daisy Lee Bell.
According to court records made public late Wednesday, King was under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance when the crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on March 31. A report by Alabama Media Group said Bell, a mother and grandmother, was celebrating with family at her daughter’s home at the intersection of Pearson Avenue and 31st Street S.W. Bell was sitting in a chair on the front porch when, according to authorities, a Dodge Caravan driven by King left the roadway, plowed through the front yard and crashed into the porch.
