Man Charged In Goo-Goo Car Wash Hold-Up

A man has been arrested in the hold-up of the Goo-Goo Car Wash on Crestwood Boulevard.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man has been arrested in the robbery of a car wash in Birmingham that occurred April 14. Birmingham police on Friday announced the arrest of 39-year-old Jamie Layfield of Odenville for a robbery at the Goo Goo Car Wash on Crestwood Boulevard. He is charged with first-degree robbery.

An Alabama Media Group report said Layfield, brandishing a knife, entered the business about 9:50 a.m. that Sunday. He demanded money from an employee and also threatened that he was armed would a gun and would kill the employee. After grabbing the money, the suspect left the car wash on foot toward Montclair Road.

Layfield was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday and remains held on $60,000 bond.
