Man Charged In Kidnapping, Robbery, Sexual Assault Case

A man has been arrested and charged in a robbery and sexual assault case reported Wednesday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man who police say robbed, kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman Wednesday night has been arrested. Tadarrius Luwaun Smith, 21, had been identified as the suspect when Birmingham police learned he was already in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on unrelated charges.

Police say Smith kidnapped a woman Wednesday just before 10:30 p.m. and drove her vehicle to various locations to withdraw money from her bank account using her debit card. According to police, Smith then sexually assaulted the woman before letting her go.

Smith is charged with kidnapping, theft of property, robbery and sodomy.
