Man Charged With Murder In Stabbing Death Of His Sister

An 88-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of his 86-year-old sister.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An 88-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in the Monday morning stabbing death of his sister.

Joshua Underwood is accused of killing 86-year-old Garland Perry, according to Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department. Mauldin said Perry was found dead from multiple stab wounds at a residence at 1633 Brookfield Lane just before 9 a.m. Monday.

Underwood reportedly fled the home after the stabbing, and was found nearby with injuries. He remains at UAB Hospital where he is being guarded until he recovers, at which point he will be transported to Jefferson County Jail.
