Man Charged In Saturday’s Shooting In Southwest Birmingham

A suspect has been charged with murder in the slaying of 27-year-old Korey Carlisle Saturday afternoon.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A suspect in the deadly shooting of 27-year-old Korey Carlisle Saturday has been charged and is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail. Ronald Williams Johnson was booked just before 1:30 p.m. Monday.

A report by Alabama Media Group said the shooting happened at 12:44 p.m. in the 600 block of Goldwire Place. Birmingham police Sgt. Bryan Shelton said South Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot and deceased at the location.

Shelton said the investigation showed Carlisle drove to location and engaged in a conversation with the suspect, who has not yet been identified. Shortly after that conversation began, a single shot rang out and struck Carlisle. Johnson is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $75,000. Family members of Carlisle, who was a father, have started a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral.
