Man Charged In Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

A Birmingham man has been charged in connection with the robbery of a Wells Fargo branch on 1st Avenue North this week.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A Birmingham man has been arrested and charged with the Thursday afternoon robbery of a Wells Fargo bank branch in downtown Birmingham. Roger Lee, 41, is charged with first-degree robbery.

A report by Alabama Media Group said the holdup happened about 3 p.m. Thursday at Wells Fargo Bank on First Avenue North. Sgt. Johnny Williams said East Precinct officers arrived to find that the suspect entered the business and presented a note demanding money. He fled with bank with an undetermined amount of cash.

Investigators developed leads that led them to a home in the 200 block of 67th Place North where the suspect was possibly hiding. Officers, along with detectives and members of BPD’s SWAT team, went to the home and found multiple people inside, one being Roger Lee.

Lee will be transferred from the Birmingham Jail to Jefferson County Jail Friday.
