Man Dies In East Birmingham Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man was found shot to death by Birmingham police Thursday in east Birmingham. The victim, 49-year-old Tommy Brown of Birmingham, was pronounced dead on the scene around noon in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the preliminary investigation suggests Brown was involved in an altercation prior to being shot, and the suspect fled the scene.

Mauldin said detectives have not established a clear motive in this investigation and no suspects are in custody.
