BIRMINGHAM, AL - A construction working at a new apartment complex being built on Highland Avenue fell several stories to his death Thursday afternoon. The man has been identified as Marcus Dewayne Billingsley of Pleasant Grove. He was 29.
Coroner's officials said Billingsley was working on the 14th floor to extend the stairwell to the 15th floor. The complex is 17 floors. A report by WBRC said he fell 50 feet to the 9th floor. Billingsley was pronounced dead on the scene.
Reports say Billingsley lost his balance and fell through an opening that was covered by a piece of wood.
