BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man was found dead in an abandoned building in downtown Birmingham Tuesday, in a building on 19th Street North between First and Second avenues, across from the McWane Science Center. Police are still trying to identify the deceased.

The decomposing body was found just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to an Alabama Media Group report. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the remains are those of an adult white male. He is believed to possibly be a transient who was found by another transient taking shelter in the building for the night.
