Man Hospitalized After Scaling 59/20 Road Sign
A man climbed to the top of a road sign on Interstate 59/20 Wednesday afternoon, and is being evaluated at a local hospital.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man who climbed the Oporto-Madrid exit sign on Intestate 59/20 Tuesday afternoon is being evaluated at a local hospital after police were able to talk him off the sign.
A report by Alabama Media group said Birmingham police responded about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a man sitting on the interstate bridge near 64th Street with his legs dangling over First Avenue North.

By the time police arrived, the man had climbed the nearly 20-foot sign with his legs straddling the sign. The roadway was temporarily blocked while officers were able to talk the man down. He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. He was not arrested for any crime.
