Man Killed In Shooting In West Birmingham Apartment

A shooting in the Roosevelt community in the western area of Birmingham left a 26-year-old man dead.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A shooting at an apartment complex in Birmingham's Roosevelt City community Thursday night left a 26-year-old man dead. Police say Quantis Mandel Samuels was killed when gunfire broke out following some type of altercation at the home, where there were multiple people inside.

A report by Alabama Media Group said Police found Samuels and a woman both injured when they arrived at the scene on the 1600 block of Warner Street and rushed them to UAB Hospital. The woman's injuries were not life-threatening. Coroner's officials said Samuels died in surgery at the hospital at 9:19 p.m.

A suspect is in custody and undergoing questioning by police. No formal charges have yet been filed.
