Man Sentenced For Deadly 2018 Shooting

A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the death of 28-year-old Antonio Jerrell Taylor.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man who was convicted in August in the fatal 2018 shooting of 28-year-old Antonio Jerrell Taylor has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Keegan Dixie, 29, was convicted of a reduced charge of reckless manslaughter in Taylor's death, which occurred June 10, 2018 at the Shell station in the 800 block of Third Avenue West in Birmingham.

An Alabama Media Group report said the preliminary investigation showed Taylor and Dixie were outside the store when the shooting happened. Detectives at the time said they received conflicting accounts of what happened. One account states the shooting was accidental, and the other intentional.

Jefferson County deputy district attorneys Matthew Casey and Meaghan Ellis prosecuted Dixie. The defendant was represented by attorneys Jim Parkman and Clayton Tartt.
