Meth Lab Discovered in Jefferson County, Mulga man arrested
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department discovered a methamphetamine lab operating out of a van in Mulga and made an arrest today.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department discovered an active methamphetamine lab operating out of a van in Mulga in the early hours of the morning Wednesday. A 43 year old man, Kenneth Carver of Mulga, was arrested for operating the lab, among other charges.
Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person on some property on 1st Street in Mulga at approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. It was reported that Carver was at an abandoned home using methamphetamine.
According to reports from deputies, Carver was found sitting in a van in the yard of home and was in possession of methamphetamine and subsequently arrested. During a search of the van, deputies discovered a plastic soda bottle that was warm to the touch, which was determined to be an active methamphetamine manufacturing process. Investigators and HAZMAT personnel from the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit were called to process the scene and safely dispose of the chemicals involved in the process. Fire Service personnel also responded to the scene due to the dangerous and volatile nature of the chemical process.
Carver was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal manufacture of a controlled substance, and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $121,000.
