Midfield Man Shot And Killed In Gate City; Woman & Child Injured
A 24-year-old Midfield man was shot and killed in his car in Gate City. A woman and child were also in the car.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 24-year-old Midfield man was shot and killed in his car Tuesday morning, Birmingham police report. A woman and children were also in the car, but they only sustained minor glass and shrapnel injuries.
Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to reports of a man shot on the 6700 block of Kimberly Avenue in Gate City, police said. Upon arriving, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Roderick Tavaras Chester Jr. of Midfield, according to WBRC.
Chester was transferred to UAB Hospital, where he died shortly after arriving.

Police are investigating the incident. No suspects are currently in custody.
