More Than 1,100 New COVID-19 Cases, 24 Deaths Reported In Alabama

The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 1,161 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

MONTGOMERY, AL — Alabama continues to see a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, as the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 1,161 new cases of the virus Wednesday. The ADPH also confirmed 25 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Total, 467,754 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Alabama, with 46,424 positive tests. In the last two weeks, 13,665 positive tests have been confirmed out of 127,292 patients tested.

Alabama reports that 1,073 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized. The state has confirmed 1,036 deaths from the virus.

Jefferson County led all counties in new COVID-19 cases, with 201 new cases reported Wednesday, bringing the county's total to 5,687 cases.

The counties reporting the most new cases in the last 24 hours:

  • Jefferson County: 201 new cases; 5,687 total
  • Mobile County: 96 new cases; 4,315 total
  • Madison County: 66 new cases; 1,620 total
  • Baldwin County: 59 new cases; 1,039 total
  • Shelby County: 57 new cases; 1,414 total
