BIRMINGHAM, AL — A movie filmed last year in Birmingham starring Aaron Eckhart will hit theaters in a couple of weeks. Downtown Birmingham serves as the backdrop for "Line of Duty," a police action/drama film set for release Nov. 15.

The film stars Eckhart as officer Frank Penny, who goes on a rogue mission to find the chief of police’s abducted daughter. After killing the police’s only lead on the case, Penny is followed by reporter Ava (Courtney Eaton), who is live streaming his entire mission. Dean Keller (Ben McKenzie), the brother of the man he killed, is also after Penny.

The film was originally titled "Live," and began filming May 15 last year. Film crews were seen all over downtown Birmingham through May and into June. A number of familiar downtown locations can be seen in the first trailer that was released Oct. 22.
