New Alabama Coronavirus Cases Under 1,000 For 3 Straight Days

Alabama reported fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the third day in a row Thursday.

MONTGOMERY, AL — For the third straight day, the Alabama Department of Public Health reported fewer than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19, the first time since June the state has had such a streak.

Total, Alabama has confirmed 101,496 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, with 16,549 of those cases confirmed in the last two weeks. The ADPH estimates that 41,523 COVID-19 patients in Alabama have recovered from the virus.

The state has confirmed 1,821 deaths from COVID-19, while 1,370 patients remained hospitalized with the virus.

The last week has seen encouraging numbers as far as new COVID-19 cases in the state are concerned. Jefferson County reported the only new case total above 100 Thursday, and the last seven days have shown a downward trend in most counties in the state.

In the last week, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Alabama:

  • August 7: 1,425 new cases
  • August 8: 1,815 new cases
  • August 9: 1,122 new cases
  • August 10: 1,665 new cases
  • August 11: 536 new cases
  • August 12: 875 new cases
  • August 13: 695 new cases
