The Jefferson County Board of Education has proposed a new $38.5 million high school for Fultondale.

FULTONDALE, AL - The Jefferson County Board of Education is proposing a new $38.5 million high school for Fultondale. Although there had been talk recently of combining Fultondale and Gardendale high schools, that plan will not move forward, and a school housing grades 7-12 is now on the agenda.

According to a report by Alabama Media Group, new high school will be built in the city of Fultondale as a part of Jefferson County Board of Education's $200 million capital outlay plan. The site for the new school has not been chosen yet.

The school system is amending its motion for approval of its construction projects to U.S. District Court Judge Madeline Haikala. The proposal must be approved by the court due to an ongoing federal desegregation order.
