No New Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Alabama

For the first time since July 5, Alabama reported no new COVID-19 deaths, as the state adds 1,180 new cases to its total.

MONTGOMERY, AL — Alabama posted no new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, the first time since July 5 the Alabama Department of Public Health has had no fatalities to report. The state confirmed 1,180 new cases of the virus, the third lowest new case total this month.

The new case total did put the state above 80,000 total cases since the pandemic began. Total, the state has confirmed 80,309 cases of COVID-19, with 32,510 of those presumed to have recovered from the virus.

Despite some positive news on the coronavirus front in the state, 1,599 people remained hospitalized in Alabama for COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, which is a new high since the pandemic began in March. The number of COVID-19 deaths remains at 1,446, with an additional 45 probable deaths from the virus.

The counties with the most new cases reported Tuesday:

  • Jefferson County: 143 new cases; 10,563 total
  • Mobile County: 134 new cases; 7,495 total
  • Madison County: 113 new cases; 4,445 total
  • Montgomery County: 70 new cases; 5,838 total
  • Baldwin County: 66 new cases; 2,793 total
